Days 1-8: Ankara
After arriving in Turkey, we'll spend our first full day learning about the art and food scenes of Ankara with visits to Cern Modern art gallery and the coffee shops of historic Hamamonu.
We'll the spend our second full day on a day trip to explore the architecture and museums of nearby Beypazarı- famous for its 80-layer baklava.
For our third full day in Ankara, we'll learn more about the history of the city with visits to Ankara Castle and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
We'll then spend our fourth full day exploring nearby Konya on a day trip to see its collections of ancient sculpture and Ottoman architecture.
After that, we'll spend our next day with a visit to the Gokyay Chess Museum to learn about the history of chess in Turkey and its impact on the cultures of the Middle East.
Participants will then get a free day to explore Ankara on their own and learn more about the local history and culture for their final full day before departure.
Itineraries and daily schedules are subject to change. We expect to do everything listed in the itinerary, though the order may be rearranged based on weather or other local conditions.
