BUDDHIST NORTH THAILAND

8 Days in Bangkok

Days 1-8: Bangkok

After arriving in Bangkok, we'll spend our first full day visiting the city's most famous Buddhist temples of Wat Arun and Wat Phra Chetuphon to learn about the sculpture and architecture of Thai Buddhist religious sites.

We'll the spend our second full day exploring the museums and temples of the Grand Palace to learn about the role of the religion in the country's history.

For our third full day in Thailand, we'll take a day trip to nearby Ayutthaya to explore the architecture of this Buddhist temple complex.

We'll then spend our fourth full day exploring the unique designs of the Wat Yannawa Boat Temple and the Golden Mount of Wat Saket.

After that, we'll spend our next day on a day trip to the nearby island of Koh Si Chang to explore the Buddhist temples on this off-shore island paradise.

Participants will then get a free day to explore Bangkok on their own and learn more about the local history and culture for their final full day before departure.

Itineraries and daily schedules are subject to change. We expect to do everything listed in the itinerary, though the order may be rearranged based on weather or other local conditions.

CULINARY THAILAND

8 Days in Phuket, Koh Lipe, & Hat Yai

Days 1-4: Phuket

After arriving in Phuket, we'll spend our first full day exploring local breakfast at Khao Tom Thanon Di Buk and navigating Naka Market to learn more about local cuisine in the city.

We'll then spend our second full day in the city at the picturesque nearby Kata Beach to taste the street foods of the area and enjoy the scenery of one of Phuket's best beach towns.

We'll then spend out last full day in Phuket taking a cooking class to learn more about how to make our own Thai food back home.

Days 5-9: Koh Lipe

After arriving on Koh Lipe, we'll head to Kali Koh Lipe where Thailand's own tourism bureau enjoys its afternoon coffee while visiting the island.

We'll then spend our first full day on Koh Lipe having breakfast at Cafe Lipe before heading to explore street food vendors at Sunrise Beach.

Participants will then get a day to explore the island on their own and get a taste of Koh Lipe's amazing scenery and beaches.

We'll then explore the foods of the famous Koh Lipe Walking Street before heading to Elephant Koh Lipe to learn about the growing coffee scene in Thailand.

Finally, we'll spend our last day on Koh Lipe exploring the food scene at the serene Sanom Beach before eating at the incredible restaurant Tonkow.

Days 10-14: Hat Yai

After arriving taking a ferry and a short bus to Hati Yai, we'll learn more about Thailand's growing coffee culture with a visit to the amazing Attention Cafe.

We'll then spend our first full day in Hat Yai exploring the foods of Kim Yong Market before eating at the incredible Fish Kitchen.

For our second full day in Hat Yai, we'll have an early dinner at the amazing Chen Long Boat Noodle before exploring the food stalls of the famous Greenway Night Market.

On our final full day in Thailand, we'll eat at Hat Yai's best breakfast restaurant Cubs before an afternoon of free exploration of the city.

We'll then help our participants reach their flights before departing Thailand and the friends we met along the journey.

8 Days in Siem Reap

Days 1-8: Siem Reap

After arriving in Cambodia, we'll spend our first full day learning about the history of the Khmer Empire with a morning visit to the Angkor National Museum before exploring Kbal Spean.

We'll the spend our second full day on a day trip to explore the massive temple complex of Angkor Wat to get a glimpse into the heart of a once mighty empire.

For our third full day in Siem Reap, visit two major religious sites from the Khmer Empire- Phimeanakas and the Reclining Buddha of Baphuon Temple.

We'll then spend our fourth full day exploring more of the architecture of the Khmer Empire's complexes with visits to Ta Prohm and Neak Pean.

After that, we'll spend our next day with a visit to APOPO Visitor Center to learn about the impact of recent evens on historical conservation by meeting with a team of mice helping to locate and disable landmines laid out in the jungle during the Khmer Rouge.

Participants will then get a free day to explore Siem Reap on their own and learn more about the local history and culture for their final full day before departure.

Days 1-3: Ho Chi Minh City

After arriving in the Vietnam, we'll spend our first full day exploring the history of Vietnamese art with a visit to Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts before getting dinner from Nhớ Tuyết- one of the city's best restaurants.

On our second full day in Vietnam on a day trip to the nearby Cai Be Floating Market to have an opportunity to get souvenirs from local vendors and taste local cuisine from the Vietnamese countryside.

Days 4-7: Nha Trang

After taking a train to Nha Trang, we'll spend our first full day in our second city exploring the religious architecture of Vietnam at Po Nagar Cham Towers and Long Son Pagoda.

For our second full day in Nha Trang, we'll explore the natural beauty of the region with a morning visit to Ba Ho Waterfall before spending the afternoon relaxing at Nha Trang Beach.

Days 1-3: Ho Chi Minh City

After arriving in the Vietnam, we'll spend our first full day exploring the history of Vietnamese art with a visit to Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts before getting dinner from Nhớ Tuyết- one of the city's best restaurants.

Days 12-14: Dong Hoi

After taking a train to Dong Hoi, we'll spend our first full day in our fourth city exploring the caves of Vietnam with visits to Tu Lan Caving Center and Tien Son Cave.

Participants will then get a free day to explore Dong Hoi and its nature and culture before we leave the following day for the next island on the itinerary.

Days 15-18: Ninh Binh

After taking a train to Ninh Binh, we'll spend our first full day there learning about wildlife conservation efforts in the country with a trip to Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh before exploring Van Long Nature Reserve.

We'll then spend our second full day in Ninh Binh learning about the ancient history of Vietnam with a day trip to the Hoa Lư Ancient Capital.

We'll then spend our third full day in Ninh Binh on a day trip to explore the wildlife of the country in Cuc Phuong National Park.

Days 19-21: Hanoi

After taking a train to Hanoi, we'll catch an evening performance at the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.

We'll then spend our first full day in Hanoi with a final lesson about Vietnamese culture and history with visits to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and Hanoi's Old Quarter.

Participants will then get a day off to freely explore Hanoi and its surrounding communities before the end of our journey.

After arriving in Denpasar, we'll spend our first full day learning about the art and cuisine of Bali with Five Arts Studio and Ketut's Bali Cooking Class.

We'll the spend our second full day learning about the culture and history of Bali with visits to Tegalalang Rice Terrace and Museum PASIFIKA.

For our third full day in Bali, we'll spend the day learning about the island's unique religious traditions with visits to Tirta Gangga Water Palace and Goa Gajah.

After that, we'll spend our Friday surfing throughout the day on the island's west coast to learn about the growing surf culture in the region.

After that, we'll spend our fifth full day in Bali relaxing on the volcanic sand beaches of Amed Beach.

Participants will then get a free day to explore Bali on their own and learn more about the local history and culture for their final full day before departure.
